What is mobilised Polyurethane (PU) Machinery?

Essentially a mobile Insulation application module is a self-contained, “ready for use” process unit. They are designed so they can be used independently, then scaled to meet the demands of larger project requirements and applications.

Why use mobilised PU machinery?

Modular mobilised equipment makes it easy to have a turnkey solution that can be moved between sites & offshore vessels with the capability of operating across environments. This flexibility enables clients to deploy the equipment where and when its required, allowing for maximum return on investment.

What are the limitations?

Currently the largest output machine that can fit into a 40ft shipping container is 500 kg/min with 2 off 1,000L capacity chemical tanks.

If there are space restrictions at the site of installation, 20ft or even 10ft containers can be used and combined to meet specific project objectives.

What are the benefits?

It has its own compressor, water chiller, air conditioning, power ring main and lighting system…..All it needs is a power supply to run!

By harmonising the machinery, we can combine multiple mobilised machine modules to give bigger outputs and more chemical capacity, as shown below.

Two Independent 500 kg machines can be combined through 1 master module/mixing head to be a 1,000 kg machine with now four 1,000L tanks.

The flexibility of the systems also means at the end of each project lifecycle, clients have more options on how best to prepare the modules for their next project. Servicing can be carried out in-situ or if preferred clients can arrange for them to come back to CTM for a full inspection and refurbishment.

Whilst at the CTM facility, they can be upgraded (if applicable) enabling modules to grow with newer technologies and benefitting from enhanced efficiencies. This helps extend the lifespan of each module, further increasing the ROI of the system.

Remote Support

Whether the modules are operating from a truck or onboard a vessel in the ocean, it may not always be feasible for service engineers to visit in person. The location may be inaccessible, critical time factors may not allow for the necessary health screening / injections, the environment may be dangerous such as the risk of piracy, or it may just be the financial implications of engineers travelling the world.

CTM have developed state of the art control systems that we can access remotely, wherever the module is on land or sea. Our technical team can connect directly and review settings, operating parameters, key performance data and makes changes. This enables us to support the onsite maintenance personnel, assisting them resolve any issues, thereby reducing downtime and costly delays.

Other things to consider

Modular mobilised systems can be sited in some of the harshest environments, requiring complex technical specifications to ensure compliance with the geography, the chemicals in use and their application. This can range from minimum IP rating, segregated work areas to ensure safety and compliance with ATEX / UKCA standards down to consideration of local health, safety and legislation requirements.
